A Tacoma tradition! A festive family affair! The Bud Light Frosty’s 5K is a scenic point-to-point course starting at the State Farm building in downtown Tacoma. During the race, runners will cross the Murray Morgan Bridge and experience first-hand the greatness of Puget Sound. After the short ascent off the Murray Morgan Bridge, runners will be treated to a flat and fast course going through the beautiful Esplanade along the Glass Museum along Tacoma’s Dock Street for their big finish along the Puget Sound.

Half Marathon Start Time: 8:30 AM

We are excited to be bringing back the Santa Runs Tacoma Half Marathon in 2021! Registration for this event will open on Monday, November 8th @ 10:00 AM.

Aid Stations: 
There will be 5 aid stations along the half marathon course with Nuun and Water at each. Aid stations will be located at Mile 3, Mile 5 & 10, and Mile 7 & 9 (Honey Stingers).

This is one of Tacoma’s fastest Half Marathon courses. Starting in Downtown Tacoma, you’ll run down the Murry Morgan draw bridge to sea level, run along the Glass Museum Esplande. You’ll continue along the waterfront and hop on the Ruston Way Path and run towards Tacoma’s newest waterfront destination, the Point Ruston Waterwalk and Tacoma’s Dune Peninsula Park where you’ll turn around and fly like Santa along the flat and fast waterfront to the finish at Dock Street!

A small transaction fee is assessed when registering online. Price increases occur at midnight. We offer a family discount to families of four or more. Please use the family of four or more button to register your family and receive the discount.

Getting Back to the Start Line
There will be no shuttles from the finish line back to the start. The shortest way back to the start line is a 0.5 mi walk using the steps up the the 11th St bridge. Walking Directions HERE

Awards for the top Overall Male & Female and age group ribbons will be available for pick up at your convenience at the results tent.

Age Group Ribbons
Age group ribbons will be given out to the top 5 finishers in the following age groups: 9 & under,10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+

Kids receive a finisher ribbon upon crossing the finish line.

How to Claim Your Ribbon

After you have finished your race check the results computers. If your results are not yet posted please check back again in 10-15 minutes as they are updated often.

If you are in the top 5 in your age group, proceed to the awards table to claim your ribbon. The awards table will be located next to the results computers. Tell the volunteer your placing and they will give you your ribbon. Congratulations!n.

To be eligible for overall and age group awards you cannot be paced by or accept aid from a non-registered runner at any time during the event.

USATF rules: if you win both an overall and age group spot you will be presented with both awards. Overall winners ARE NOT knocked out of their respective age group.


Mask Policy
In accordance with the Washington State Department of Health, people five years and older (vaccinated or not) are required to wear a face covering at outdoor events with 500 or more people, such as Tacoma City Marathon Association events. We strongly recommend that children between 2 and 4 years old also wear masks.

We will be reminding all participants and spectators to keep their masks on in the start/finish line areas of our events and to practice social distancing whenever possible. Please stay home if you are sick or have any symptoms. The health and safety of our participants, volunteers and staff remains a top priority for TCMA and we are committed to doing what we can to keep our community safe. We appreciate your cooperation!

Can I pick up someone else’s race packet?
Yes, as long as you have permission from them to do so. Written permission is not required.

I registered, but have learned that I will be unable to participate. Is my entry fee refundable?
Our policy is no refunds, no transfers to another individual or to another TCMA event, and no rollovers to the next year’s race. Sorry, no exceptions.

Is there an age limit for the race?
There is no age limit for the 5k race as long as your child is able to complete the distance on their own or in a stroller. For the 1K Kids Run we recommend the race for kids 12 and under. Grown-ups can run with their children and do not need to register for the 1K.

What is in my race packet?
Your packet will contain a bib number with timing chip and goody bag with promotional offers and coupons from event sponsors and vendors. This bag can also be used as your gear check bag on race day.

The half marathon and 5k races start in Downtown Tacoma

Where is the finish line located?
The half marathon and 5k races finish on North Tacoma’s Dock Street 

Is there gear check at the start?
Yes, gear check is provided as a place to store your personal items while you race. Please tear your gear check tab off of your bib and attach to your gear check bag (using the zip tie provided in your gear check bag). Your gear check bag will be given to you at packet pick up. Please do not put valuables in your bag. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. You may claim your bag after you finish by providing your bib number.

Will there be a professional photographer at the event?
Yes. Race photography will be provided by CJ Photography. Photos are free to all race participants to download.

Where do I find my race results?
Results will be available at the results computers following the race. Results will also be available online no later than 5 PM on race day. 

Is the race chip timed?
Yes. Chip start, chip finish. Timing chips are to be attached to your bib number and do not need to be returned.

How many miles is a half marathon?
A half marathon is 13.1 miles. There will be mile markers at each mile point.

How many miles is a 5K?
A 5K is 3.1 miles. There will be mile markers at each mile point.

Can I walk the race?

Are dogs allowed?
Unfortunately, we cannot allow dogs in this race. Sorry – this is per USATF regulations. We cannot make exceptions as this affects our liability insurance.

Are there porta-potties at the start?
Yes, and plenty of them.

Can I wear headphones during the race?
Yes, be safe and don’t turn them up so loud that you can’t hear volunteers or police. We recommend leaving one earbud out. Be safe out there.
